Well, I have to admit it... facebook has stolen all of my xanga zeal. That's why I've been silent for a long while.

Well... that and V is preggers...

and that I've been preaching weekly at Grace OPC in Norman. Check it out if you're interested!

I've got some Sunday School lessons as well as a boatload of sermons. We've been walking our way through 1 Timothy.

Long Overdue Post

Life has been busy moving around and getting settled. Plus my job hunt is less than encouraging at the moment... not to mention my dealings with the unemployment agency (saying my church wasn't covered by the state for insurance). *sigh*

On the bright side, our Baby is growing nicely and is at 14 weeks in Mom's belly right now. Hooray! Also, I've been given the opportunity to do pulpit supply on Sunday in Norman, OK. It's a little OPC church out there called Grace, so if you're near there, I'd love to see you!

Cautious Secret

Well, I've been hiding it for a while but now it's time to make it totally public. We've told family and a few friends, but now all of you can know as well:

My wife is pregnant!

She's closing in on 2 months preggers now, so we have no idea on gender, but we're both excited. It's unfortunate that things at my old church blew up right when we found out, but God is doing something here and I'm just going to roll with it! Lord willing I'll find another church to work at (where the elder's wives won't be trying to get rid of me because I didn't do things their way) that will be a good one to raise a family in.

Life isn't perfect, nor is the church, but God has blessed us with a child (Lord Willing) and we have much to be happy about... as well as more on our plate to consider!! God is good to us, and I know He will continue to be so even in these unsure times.

AFTERMATH

Wonder where I've been the last two weeks? Basically packing my bags and saying goodbye.

The church's response to my turning down of their one year call was to fire me. Well, technically, they "demanded my resignation within 24 hours," but they basically fired me in "nicer" words.

So V and I have been packing, tossing out, giving away, and sorting through everything in our apartment. This computer is the last thing we'll pack actually. So I'm blogging as right before I go dark for a while.

If you know of any PCA openings, shoot me a Xanga message (or facebook if you're on there) and hopefully I can get it sometime soon. Otherwise we'll be moving back to Oklahoma and looking for jobs there.

As V's side of the family says in a joke: What does the Calvinist say after he falls down some stairs? "Glad that's over." The situation sucks, but it's behind us and we're trying to move on best we can.

Also, if you could be in prayer for Val and I in regards to our future, especially in the ministry, we would greatly appreciate it. I can't go into details here without gossiping so I won't, but the future is rather uncertain at the moment. In short though, I turned down a "1 year renewable" call to Assistant Pastor at my church, and I'm not sure how the session will take it.

If you've never heard of a "1 year renewable" call before, you're not alone. That's one of the reasons I turned it down.

Ok, seriously, when will people get a clue that things are not working out how they expected them too in the government?

They authorize 700 Billion in loans to banks, hand out bailouts totally near another 500 billion, and now Obama wants to do a stimulus package reaching almost 800 Billion as well!?!?!??

We CAN NOT AFFORD THIS.

As Peter Schiff puts it... all we're doing is transferring public debt to the government, we're not actually *creating* wealth for people. Spending and going into debt got us into this mess, when will people learn that in DC??!?!?

Also, get this... even the Fed realizes that none of this is working. In fact, they expect the GDP to continue to be down for 2009, and unemployment to keep rising all the way into 2010!!! And THESE are the guys who supposedly solved our problems by killing interest rates and borrowing money like mad?

Well, maybe borrowing is the wrong term. They've been PRINTING it to make up for the loss of money in the system due to deflation. So no inflation... yet. We've got a few years before that really kicks in, and when it does? You're gonna want to buy gold, and anything you can get your hands on. Why? Because all of your savings will be worth NOTHING.

We should all just listen to Fred.

Remembering Worship

Pastor of "Fine Arts"

V and I went to a Christmas performance with the youth group on Friday and... well.. it was a bit hokey.

They put a lot into it, but the whole "first half fictional story" wasn't really all that hot. Probably not bad for a church performance (mega-church that is), but it doesn't match what the World can do. The second half was the Christmas story (without words), and took quite a bit of liberty when it comes to angels.

The sad part was that Christmas was all about hope, peace, and joy. No mention of sin, no mention of salvation, but just so that we can live a full and complete life now. ARGH. Is there no end to this neutered "Christianity?"

What really got our goat though? The whole thing was led by the Maestro. Who has the title of "Pastor of Fine arts" at Trinity Methodist Church. Maybe you can help enlighten my wife and I... but what is the Biblical warrant for a Pastor of "fine arts" and what exactly does such an ordainable man do??? (Besides direct and lead music at Christmas plays.)

Another Sermon Up

It's on Isaiah 64:1-12, and is entitled "Hope in the Lord."

It's kinda influenced by Dr. Horton's book, Christless Christianity... as well as the advent calendar. The reason Horton's book only KINDA influenced it is because I had only read one chapter of his book before doing the sermon! I got a lot of good feedback on it, so I hope you enjoy.
